About Our Chapter

Our Vision :

TO CREATE A SUSTAINABLE CAMP WHERE A KID CAN BE A KID IN A SAFE AND COMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT.

For 25 years, RFKC #46 has aimed to bring a loving and fun week of summer camp to the children in the foster system from the Puget Sound area and most specifically, Kitsap County. It is sponsored by Peninsula Bible Fellowship, but staffed from many area churches by trauma informed and trained volunteers who love the unloved and see the forgotten. We have served over 600 children in the past 25 years.

Story of the One - The Starfish Story

At Royal Family Kids Camp, stories are a powerful and meaningful way to show the impact of what we do. We call this tradition, “The Story of The One,” and it is based on the lovely concept in the Starfish Story…

There was once an old man who walked the beach near his home every morning. On this particular morning, the beach was full of starfish scattered all over the sand that had been washed ashore during the previous night’s storm. As the sun began to rise, the man realized with concern that the starfish were beginning to suffer under the dry heat and needed to be returned to the nourishing water in order to survive. He began to pick them up and toss them gently back into the water as he continued on his walk. As he did so, another beach comber approached from the opposite direction who had been observing the kind old man for some time. “Stranger,” he asked, “what are you doing with the starfish?” When the old man explained, the incredulous response he received was, “But, man! Look at the myriad of starfish here on the shore! You will never be able to save them all! Surely, your efforts won’t even make a difference!” The wise old man grinned and with a twinkle in his eye, bent down and retrieved yet another starfish. As he tossed it back towards the ocean, he looked the cynical stranger in the eye and said, “It made a difference to that one.”

Likewise, in RFKC, we believe that we can make a difference to one life at a time.
